December 23, Agent contacted by S-phone but, visibility being good, MGB was sighted and fired upon from shore batteries. Operation abandoned. MGB withdrew behind smokescreen.

January 28-29, Unsuccessful. Reception committee had gone to a beach 300 meters further South, which the organiser thought better than that chosen and agreed by the 'powers' and on which the surf boats landed.

MGB fired on by battery near PinPoint. Withdrew and came back later.
S-phone allowed agent to talk to ship. Tide very low and passengers had to cross 200-300 meters of bare beach.
Material landed and 25 embarked in 4 surf boats.

April 15, Successful.
Agents landed. Those embarked included 2 women and 9 airmen.
German vessels met on way and MGB fired on. Latter did not return fire and the enemy stopped firing. However, 1 rating was killed but no damage was sustained to MGB. The rating's name was Able Seaman W.A. Sandalls, buried at Charlbury in the Cotswolds. Alfred F. Harris (Boat's Crew) Ex Seaman Gunner was also part of the crew on 502. He was only 18 but also quite a poet, as shown in the following poem. His poem really gives one a feel for what a typical mission felt like to these men.

Motor Gunboat 502 was part of the 15th M.G.B. Flotilla, Commanded by Lt.Cdr. Peter Williams. The Flotilla consisted of 5 boats and 125 personnel.
