The Los Angeles branch of the Royal Society of Saint George celebrates Saint George's Day each year. Unfortunately, I was unable to attend the 2007 celebration. However, I sent the following poem in my place.

Saint George's Day

In April, nearly into May,
The twenty third's Saint George's Day.
We'll fly our flags with crosses proud,
And sing our Nation's songs out loud.

No longer living on it's shore
There's nothing that can please us more
Than to remember with a smile
That cherished green and pleasant isle.

I like to feel that England lives
Within us still. This knowledge gives
To all a feeling that we're free
From selfishness and tyranny.

I'm proud to be an Englishman
And 'though I'm now American.
I'll always proudly have at hand
Those lessons learned while in that land.
