During a trip through the Rockies on the Canadian Rocky Mountaineer Train, I took part in an impromptue Poetry contest and came up with the following. I was one of three winners and was awarded an "Order of the Salmon" pin.

A SALMON'S TAIL

I didn't know when I was born,
I'd have to wait five years to spawn!
But when that day came round at last,
I swam up-river, extra fast!

But getting there was half the fun,
We all went on a Salmon Run!
We made it with no time to spare,
But didn't know when we got there,
We'd never get back to the sea,
We thought that sex would make us free!

I partied like no time before,
And kept on yelling "MORE! MORE! MORE!
"Live fast and die young" was our wish.
And this came true for this poor fish!
