A version of the F-18 was sold to the Swiss Air Force. The unique fatigue spectrum relating to the Alpine flying environment required a complete analytical revision of the existing structure. This analysis had to be reviewd on a monthly basis by a Swiss Engineer based in St. Louis. These reviews were sometime contentious, to say the least. One prime example included a negative response to the late arival of one month's analysis due to the Los Angeles disruption at the time of the Rodney King riots. The Swiss Engineer in question felt that the riot situation was a lame excuse for not being able to drop the report off at a local FedEx office!

THE SWISS F-18 PROJECT

There once was a man who was Swiss,
Who liked living in St. Louis, Miss.
And when asked what he thought
Of a Northrop report,
Said, "Chamge this" - and "Change this" - and "Change this"!
