No 158 Sqd Codes: NP Based at Driffield, Yorkshire (4 Group). Converted from Wellingtons to B MkII Halifaxes in May 1942. Moved to East Moor, Yorkshire in June 1942. Moved to Rufforth, Yorkshire in November and again to Lisset, Yorkshire in February 1943. Converted to B MkIII's in December 1943. No640(B) Sqd formed from C Flight in January 1944, and squadron strength expanded to three flights once more in March. Began conversion to B MkVI's in April 1945 and both types used for final operational mission, against Wangerooge, on 25/4/45. Squadron reduced to two flights on 1/5/45 and transferred to Transport command 8/5/45 and converted to Sterlings
