A truckload of sand is hauled to the tunnel entrance where it was emptied into the sand dispersal chamber and shovelled into ‘sausage bags’ for transport to the surface. At the surface it had to be ‘lost’. Much of the sand was dispersed by a section of the X organisation called ‘Penguins’ who slung one of these sausage bags inside each trouser leg and scattered the sand over the compound by releasing it via a small hand operated valve in the bottom of the bag. As the sand tumbled out it was immediately trampled into the topsoil.
